Frequently Asked Questions
Can I just come for the BBQ, or is it just for people playing in the bocce ball tournament?
ABSOLUTELY! This is first and foremost, an LGBTQIA+ BBQ for people in the greater Ann Arbor/Ypsi area (and anyone who wants to drive, honestly). The bocce ball tournament is just a fun way to utilize another part of this amazing facility at Wolverine Pickleball. They have been amazing partners to us, and we want everyone to know what an awesome space they have!
Why can't I bring my alcohol to this BBQ?
To bring your own alcohol into an establishment that has a liquor license is a violation of that license. Doing so could result in the establishment receiving fines and/or a suspension of its liquor license. Wolverine Pickleball has been an extraordinary partner for us. Please do not put them in a situation where they have to ask you to leave because you wanted to save a dollar or two. Furthermore, putting them at risk would likely mean we would not be allowed to have any leagues or events there in the future. So, please, support the business that supports our community. One way to do that is to follow the rules (it's not even their rule, honestly, it's the State of Michigan's).
I'm not a very good cook. Is it okay to just buy something from the store and bring it?
Knowing your strengths and weaknesses in life is an amazing skill to have. Not everyone is so self-aware. If you know that cooking something would put the community's health and well-being at risk, then by all means, bring something from the Meijer Deli or snack aisle. Keep in mind, too, that we also need items like paper plates, napkins, and silverware. Feel free to sign up for things like that as well. If too many people sign up for those types of items, I will email you and suggest something else.
Oct. 11, 2025 (Ann Arbor)
SADLY, DUE TO A LACK OF SIGNUPS, WE ARE CANCELLING THE BBQ. WE MAY TRY AGAIN IN THE SUMMER OF 2026.
Join us for some fall fun as we see who can best throw their balls at the target! Have some food, enjoy each other's company, watch the game, get a drink from the self-pour wall, and say goodbye to summer.
